We’re going to give you a bit of advice about the content you share on your social media platforms.
Firstly a bit of jargon-busting for those that don’t know; created content is stuff that you create yourself, and curated content is other stuff. It’s pretty much what it says on the tin.
If you only ever talk about yourself, eventually you’ll have nobody to talk to. This is completely true of social media too
It’s no different to real life. If you only ever talk about yourself, eventually you’ll have nobody to talk to.
This is completely true of social media too, so constant reams of posts about you, what you do, and what you sell, are spammy and counterproductive. You’ll bore the pants off everyone, and not in a good way.
But if you post curated content from other sources too, which is of value to your followers, then they will have more reason to keep following you. You’re not just banging on about yourself.
THE TIP
As a rule of thumb, you should aim for a ratio of roughly 80:20 curated:created. So less about you, more about the other stuff. Create a proper strategy.
